Chilled-water plantHow a chiller plant cools a building: cooling tower, chiller, pumps and air handler, and where 2R measures power and flow.
  1. Cooling tower · rejects the chiller's heat outdoors
  2. Chiller · makes the chilled water for air-conditioning, often the biggest single electrical load
  3. Condenser water pump · circulates water between the chiller and the cooling tower
  4. Chilled water pump · sends chilled water to the air handlers; a VSD lets it follow the load
  5. Air handling unit (AHU) · blows air across the chilled-water coil and into the building
  6. Ultrasonic flow meter · clamped on the chilled-water pipe to measure flow and cooling load (RT)
  7. Power logger · logs kW, kWh and power factor over days: Meatrol Mi550 / Fluke 430 Series II

LightingLED panels over the desks, an occupancy sensor, daylight from the windows and the lighting board, with 2R's lux meter.
  1. LED panels · efficient fittings, at the light level the task needs
  2. Occupancy sensor · switches lights off in empty areas
  3. Daylight · lights near the windows can dim when there's enough daylight
  4. Lighting board · where lighting circuits are measured and scheduled
  5. Lux meter · measures light levels at the desk: Kyoritsu 5202
