EECA 2024 checker
EECA 2024 applies to energy consumers that use 21,600 GJ or more over 12 consecutive months. Enter your usage to convert it to GJ with Suruhanjaya Tenaga’s own conversion coefficients.
Enter at least one figure to see your total.
A quick check, not a determination. Your boundary and measuring points (GP/ST 44 §4–6) decide the real figure: confirm it with a registered energy auditor.
What EECA 2024 asks of energy consumers
- An energy audit by a Registered Energy Auditor.
- Energy management by a Registered Energy Manager.
- Reporting to Suruhanjaya Tenaga.
Check the details against the Act and Suruhanjaya Tenaga’s current guidelines before relying on them.
2R’s director is a Registered Energy Auditor (JTB-2025-0051).
Quick reference
Each of these alone reaches 21,600 GJ over 12 months.
| Energy | In 12 months | Monthly average |
|---|---|---|
| Electricity from the grid | 6,000,000 kWh | 500,000 kWh |
| Natural gas | 20,474 MMBtu | 1,706 MMBtu |
| Natural gas | 457,307 m³ | 38,109 m³ |
| LPG | 474,267 kg | 39,522 kg |
How it works
- Add up your use over 12 consecutive months for each kind of energy you receive from a supplier, plus electricity you generate from solar PV.
- Multiply each total by its conversion coefficient from Appendix A of the Commission’s guideline (table below).
- Compare the sum with 21,600 GJ. At or above it, you are an energy consumer under the Act.
| Energy | Coefficient |
|---|---|
| Electricity from the grid (kWh) | 0.0036 GJ/kWh |
| Electricity generated on site from solar PV (kWh) | 0.0036 GJ/kWh |
| Natural gas (MMBtu) | 1.055 GJ/MMBtu |
| Natural gas (m³) | 0.047233 GJ/m³ |
| LPG (kg) | 0.045544 GJ/kg |
